POSCO: Congressman Hollingsworth is a Tireless Champion for Hoosiers

JEFFERSONVILLE, IN – A year after its $25 million investment in Southern Indiana, POSCO worried it would have to close-up its brand-new steel shop.

In September 2017, POSCO opened its steel wire processing plant in Jeffersonville, IN, investing $25 million in southern Indiana and bringing millions of dollars in high-wage jobs to Hoosier families. The grand-opening included a donation to Jeffersonville High School and was attended by Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb and Representative Trey Hollingsworth (IN-09), who represents Jeffersonville.

Recently, POSCO’s presence and investment in southern Indiana faced uncertainty due to trade regulations that would lead to delays in commercial production at the facility, putting Hoosier jobs at risk. Rep. Hollingsworth, on behalf of POSCO and the Hoosiers who work there, took action and brought this issue to the administration.

“We truly appreciate everything Congressman Hollingsworth has done for the successful operation of our Jeffersonville facility,” said Kenny Hwang, President of POSCO.

Less than two months after Representative Hollingsworth brought POSCO’s concerns to the attention of the administration, President Donald Trump announced an improvement on the trade regulations affecting POSCO. Now, POSCO can continue to operate with certainty, growing its investment in southern Indiana and the surrounding area’s economy.

“Representative Hollingsworth has been a tireless champion of our investment and we are proud to be one of his constituents. We look forward to continuing to contribute to the local economy and create jobs,” said Hwang.

“POSCO has made an important investment in our economy here in Jeffersonville, providing good-paying jobs and benefits to Hoosiers,” said Representative Hollingsworth. “I look forward to continuing my work with the administration to ensure our economic policies allow for certainty and prosperity to hardworking Hoosiers.”
