-Workers clean, repair facilities
Employees of POSCO-Mexico have been lending a helping hand to their local communities. In November last year, the Mexican unit of POSCO launched POSCO-Mexico Volunteers, a group within the company aimed at supporting local communities as part of the company`s social contributions.
Recently, two groups of its members conducted voluntary activities in cities of Tampico and Altamira where POSCO`s continuous galvanizing line (CGL) plant is located.
Volunteers in Tampico visited a nursing home for seniors and a child nursery.
They repaired wooden bunks, disinfected facilities, and also had a fun time with the elderly and children partaking in the recreation program.
In Altamira, POSCO-Mexico workers did some maintenance work at an elementary school by repainting the walls, replacing window panes and rearranging recycling bins.
All Korean and local employees, including POSCO-Mexico president Kim Min-dong, participated in the meaningful voluntary service event. POSCO-Mexico Volunteers plan to make a regular visit each month to facilities for the needy in the two cities.
