- Installed a joint booth with 25 POSCO Family companies... Participated at the U.S. Offshore Technology Conference

POSCO participated at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) held in Houston, Texas, USA from May 2nd to 5th, introducing POSCO`s steel materials for energy to major clients from around the world as part of demand development activities.

POSCO installed a joint PR both with 25 companies including its investing companies, steel pipe companies and equipment & material companies as part of mutual growth efforts, and received great response at the reception inviting client companies. The major oil company, Exxon Mobil also visited during the event, increasing the level of understanding of POSCO steel materials.

Other major oil companies (such as Chevron, Engineering), Procurement & Construction (ERP) companies (such as KBR) and several hundred personnel visited the booth where offshore structural steel, API line pipe steel, 9% nickel steel and other energy related steel materials were exhibited, showing great interest in POSCO`s steel.

Chairman Joon-yang Chung visited the booth and emphasized that, ``The POSCO family must continue its interest in the offshore business as it has high marketability.`` At the POSCO booth opening ceremony, Yun-soo Cho, consul general of Korea in Houston, said, ``I hope this conference serves as a cornerstone for the development of Korea`s offshore industry.``

At the invitational reception for client companies, officers and employees of major oil companies (including Shell and British Petroleum) and EPC companies (such as Technip) were invited and introduced to POSCO`s steel materials for energy.

During the visit of Exxon Mobil, the two companies discussed possible cooperative efforts with POSCO Family companies which have both steel material development and plant business capabilities for extreme environments such as extremely low temperatures, ocean depths, oil sand, etc. Through this, POSCO formed a basis to participate in major oil company projects such as Exxon Mobil.

POSCO will utilize the market information and consultation that took place during the conference, and carry out demand development activities by mobilizing human networks according to various steel material supply channels such as domestic heavy industry companies as well as ordering companies, overseas EPC companies, production companies, etc.

The Offshore Technology Conference which started in 1969 is the world`s largest offshore technology exhibition held in Houston each year, with more than 65,000 attendees and participants from 110 countries around the world.
