POSCO-MESDC (Mexico East Steel Distribution Center), presented cool, fresh air to Asilo Fray Andres de Olmos on Aug. 13, a child care center near the company.

Situated in the city of Altamira, Tamaulipas state, POSCO-MESDC is POSCO-Mexico`s logistics hub controlling the flow of goods and materials out of and into the company, including those for local and overseas businesses.

Asilo Fray Andres de Olmos is located in Madero and composed of the care center and a school for poverty-stricken children. In sweltering heat of about 40 degrees Celsius, the MESDC employees installed new ceiling fans they had bought for the children who had to endure excessive temperatures for a long time. They also removed rust from old fans and repainted them, while repainting the building.

``I think the kids will be able to have a cool summer from now,`` said a MESDC staff member during the volunteer works. ``I feel great to sweat like this for the kids,`` he added.

More volunteer activities at the child care center will be continued in September. Following the installing of the new ceiling fans and the repair of the old ones, the company plans to purchase and donate a large refrigerator to the center, while repainting the kitchen and cafeteria walls.
